New stairway by MTH elevates Zurich Headquarters

MTH furnished and installed this custom staircase and railing system at the new Zurich Insurance Headquarters building in Schaumburg, IL. MTH provided the ‘complete package’, which consisted of the glass, steel stringers, steel stairs, and the ornamental, stainless steel handrail.

Out on “The Ledge”

In 2009, MTH built the spectacular “Ledge” tourist attraction onto the sky deck at long-time client Willis (formerly Sears) Tower, and when a problem occurred recently our crews were airborne to fix the minor damage with practically no downtime. On a Wednesday night, visitors were frightened to observe what they thought were cracks in the glass floor of the observation perch. The attraction was shut down, but by Thursday afternoon, the cracked surfaces, actually thin protective coatings atop the 10,000 lb-rated glass floors, had been replaced with customary MTH speed and efficiency.

Who did they choose to build “The Bean”?

“Cloud Gate” has become one of Chicago’s favorite attractions, but getting it from sculptor Anish Kapoor’s inspired concept to gleaming reality was a daunting task. MTH Industries was the logical choice to fabricate and erect the internal structure and our metalwork artisans were up to the painstaking installation and polishing of the famous exterior to its seamless, mirror-like perfection—earning a grateful hug from the artist!
