Give MTH (the Making Things Happen people) a try.  You'll be pleased that you did!

MTH Industries was originally incorporated in Chicago in 1886, as the Tyler & Hippach Glass Company. During the company's first thirty years in operation, it performed in a number of areas related to the glass and metal industry. The company furnished and installed much of the glass on many of Chicago's first skyscrapers and also became the largest glass wholesaler in the Midwest.  The company operated the first automated mirror silvering line in the Chicago, and at one time owned and operated an insulating glass company (United States Insulating Glass Company of Chicago, Illinois), and its own glass tempering facility (Paulding Glass Works of Paulding, Ohio).

In 1983, the Tyler & Hippach Glass Company  acquired the Midwest Iron Works Company.  Midwest Iron Works was incorporated in Chicago in 1946 and was a well recognized industry leader in the ornamental and architectural metal business.  From 1983 through 1985, Tyler & Hippach and Midwest Iron Works operated independent facilities and, for the most part, functioned as separate organizations.

In 1985, senior management determined that there were substantial organizational and operational benefits to be derived by the merging of the Tyler & Hippach Glass Company with the Midwest Iron Works organization. Thus, in July of 1985, the two firms merged and the name was changed to MTH Industries.

Other active subsidiaries (divisions) of the company include the Illinois Bronze Works organization (acquired in 1996),  Midwest Glass Company (acquired in 2001) and the E.J. Hayes Glass & Mirror Co. (acquired in 2005).

The largest single contract taken by the company to date was for $23.2 million.  This work was performed under the direction of Turner Construction Company for the United Airlines Terminal 1 at O'Hare Airport in Chicago. The scope of work on this job included architectural metals, miscellaneous metals, glazing, and the nationally recognized and award winning pedestrian corridor that connects the main terminal and the satellite terminal at the airport.  It is also worth pointing out that not only was this single contract in excess of $23 million, but the project was 100% bonded.

While the company has enjoyed a long and prosperous history, we feel that the most important asset of our organization is the outstanding team of people that has been assembled ... both internally and in the field. Because of the company's long history, many of our field technicians have been steadily employed by the company for well over thirty years ... some almost forty years.
